As our world is currently undergoing swift changes in several issues, as well as those in our environment, society, and economy, which interconnected as a complex network having an effect from local to global business activities and people's day-to-day lifestyles. A multidisciplinary sciences is deemed to be a crucial approach that is needed to learn to understand and solve such modern issues, leading to real, long-lasting change to our society. Other than interdisciplinarity, the idea of sustainable development has drawn a lot of public attention as there is fast-growing economic while there are ongoing natural resource depletion, social inequalities, and climate change. These factors create a shift in conventional business methods and entrepreneurial models that hope to prioritize the protection of natural resources and strike a balance between profit and social responsibility. Additionally, improving and sustaining the quality of life of communities aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs.
Research activities can contribute benefits in a number of areas, including that in environment, culture, community, and economy. We view it as a form of academic endeavor that aiming to advance and understand new information to meet the needs of our society in the current, changing era. Therefore, we consider multidisciplinary research to be a part of essential development in both academic and industrial sectors. Thaksin University has developed its strategic plan for the academic year 2023–2027 with regards to Strategy No.2: aiming to produce research that can advance innovations and technologies. resulting in takling spatial development and enhancing national competitiveness, as well as Strategy No.5: to be the university of glocalization by improving local sectors to meet the international standards. The Glocalization University focuses on technological advancement and innovation that can solve such issues in our environment, society, and economy. With the sharing of such scholarly research whether that is quantitative or qualitative, we hope to enhance the university's academic global recognition and boost the competitiveness.
